Bearing the Summer

We're in September and that means summer is officially over -- so it's time to admit that I don't think I used the air-conditioner one time this year. Basically what I'd do is 'air' the place out over the evenings (i.e. keep all the windows open) till morning when I'd close everything up -- and that way stay cool the whole following day. It worked!

Amazon and the Chicago Police

So I go this afternoon to the Amazon Pick-up place at Clark & Diversey. I went simply to get my order of a new holding case for my cellphone. Unfortunately, not so for the awful staff -- they called the police and dragged me out of the place. Is this how they treat customers? Sorry, but no way!

Not So Bad Summer This Year

Only a few days of 'Aug' left but not much use of the air-conditioner this year. Routine I've been following: keep the windows open over the evening so cool air comes in; then close everything early in the morning so inside remains pretty nice. Works (at least this year) ...

Snack-Time :-)

Was hungry and really needed a snack -- when I remembered: ooh, still got some carmel-corn stashed away in the kitchen! Yummy! Yummy!

Age of the Cell-Phone Battery

So I was out and headed to the supermarket when I noticed my cell-phone was conked out! Battery she no work. So what did I do? Why, head back home to charge the thing. In this day & age, no outdoor excursion without the communication device.

99 Years Germania Broadcast

'July 24 2026' marks the 99th Anniversary of daddy William L. Klein's first broadcast of his radio show Germania Broadcast. He'd continue the production through the late 1960s.

The website I put together a while back has a number of boo-boo's (I'm currently working on them) but the site is still available: website...

Nice Shot from the Kerry Campaign (2004)

This goes back a bit but I do like the photo. It's of a number of volunteers in the Kerry Campaign looking for sign-ups in Milwaukee. We're talking '2004' and I had just gotten back to Chi-town the summer before (i.e. 2003).

Nightmare in Apt B9

So I woke up to the worst nightmare imaginable. Police bashed through my front door (Sat. morning), damaging it completely and wanting to know who and what was in my apartment.

I had been in my bedroom (doors closed) so I didn't hear any of their preliminary knocking. They busted open my front-door (see photo). It was a huge destructive entry into my apartment. They saw me, said they were trying to investigate the smell coming out of my apartment (i.e. a box of old salad I had put near the front door so that I would remember to throw out the next day). They informed me of that and then simply left. Yuck!
